Getting Started
Your creator operating system โ everything in one place
MakerCue is built around your content workflow. Write a script, film it with a built-in teleprompter, trim the best take, then post it with a ready-made caption and hashtags. Your calendar keeps you on schedule. Your ideas never get lost. Your PR outreach stays organised.
1
Create your account
Sign in with Google or create an account with your email on the landing page. Signing in means everything syncs across your phone and laptop automatically.
2
Choose your version
The landing page shows your MakerCue versions โ Beauty and Mama. Tap the one that matches your niche. Each version has its own deal sources, tag groups, and content tools. Your Beauty and Mama data are kept completely separate.
3
Set your layout
On the Tools home screen tap ๐ฑ Mobile if you're on your phone, or ๐ป Desktop if you're on your laptop. The Film page changes layout based on this. Your preference is saved per device.
4
Follow the workflow
The nav on the Tools screen is in order: Calendar โ Write โ Film โ Trim โ Post. That's the daily loop. Everything else โ Ideas, PR, Products, Sources โ feeds into it.
๐ก Good to know
- Your data syncs the moment you save โ open on any device and it's there
- Videos record locally and don't sync โ use AirDrop or Google Drive to move them
- Everything autosaves โ close the app mid-script and come back to exactly where you were
- Add MakerCue to your home screen for a full-app experience โ see Install the App below

Finding Your Way
Home ยท Tools ยท Guide ยท Navigation
MakerCue has two levels โ the landing page where you choose your version, and the Tools dashboard inside your version. Every page has three navigation elements in the header.
1
Tools โ (accent pill, left)
On every inner page, the Tools โ button takes you back to your version's dashboard โ the home screen with all the nav buttons. This is your primary way to move between tools.
2
โ Guide (right)
Opens this Learning Center. It's always there on every page โ quiet and accessible without being in the way.
3
โ All Versions (Tools home only)
At the bottom of the Tools dashboard nav list, โ All Versions takes you all the way back to the landing page to switch to a different MakerCue version.

Write a Script
Scripts ยท Tags ยท Schedule ยท Export ยท Trends ยท Import
The Write page is where every video starts. Scripts autosave as you type and sync across all your devices. A live trends panel on the right gives you fresh content ideas tailored to your niche every day.
1
My Scripts โ your script library
Tap My Scripts (n) in the top right to see all your saved scripts. The count shows how many you have. Tap any script to load it. Tap โ to duplicate it as a template. Tap + New Script to start fresh.
2
Write your script
Write naturally โ each line break or bullet point becomes a separate teleprompter line. This works especially well with Manual teleprompter mode, where each tap advances exactly one line or bullet. Short punchy lines film better than long sentences. The bottom bar shows your word count on the left and an estimated video length on the right โ green means you're in TikTok's sweet spot, amber means getting long, rose means too long.
3
Trends panel
The right panel (desktop) or bottom strip (mobile) shows today's viral trends for your niche pulled live from the web. Tap any trend chip โ if your title is empty it fills the title, otherwise it appends to your script. Tap โป to refresh trends anytime.
4
Import a Word document
Tap โ .docx in the action bar to upload a Word document from your device. MakerCue extracts the text and creates a new script from it โ perfect for importing scripts you wrote before using the app.
5
Add hashtag groups
Tap ๐ท to create and manage tag groups โ collections of hashtags you can add to posts with one tap. Tag groups are used on the Post page too.
6
Schedule your filming date
Tap ๐
to pick a date when you plan to film. It creates an event on your Calendar automatically and shows up in the Film page's Scheduled tab.
7
Export as RTF
Tap โ RTF to download the script as a Word-compatible file for printing or sharing. Opens in Word, Pages, or Google Docs.
๐ก Pro tips
- A 60-second TikTok at Normal teleprompter speed is roughly 140 words โ the length indicator tells you in real time
- Write the way you speak โ read it out loud before filming
- Duplicate a script to use it as a template for similar content
- Ideas can be sent directly to Write โ tap โ Script on any idea card

Film Your Take
Teleprompter ยท Filters ยท Platform ยท Recording ยท Remote
The Film page turns your camera into a content studio. Choose Auto or Manual teleprompter mode, pick a filter, and record. Everything you see on screen is baked into the recording.
1
Choose your platform
At the top select Vertical (TikTok, Reels, Shorts), Square (Instagram Feed), or Landscape (YouTube, Facebook). Dark bars show what's outside your safe zone.
2
Load a script
The script picker opens automatically. Choose from All Scripts or the Scheduled tab. Scripts preserve your formatting โ bullet points and line breaks each become a separate teleprompter line. Tap Film without a script for freeform filming.
3
Auto or Manual teleprompter
The Auto | Manual toggle in the teleprompter footer switches modes. Auto โ script scrolls line by line at your WPM speed. Manual โ script stays frozen until you advance it. In Manual mode the controls bar shows โน Back and โบ Next buttons. Tapping anywhere on the script text also advances it. Your mode choice is remembered.
4
Resize the teleprompter
Drag the pill handle at the top of the teleprompter panel up or down to make it taller or shorter. The filter bar adjusts with it. Your preferred height is saved between sessions.
5
Adjust text size and speed
Use Aโ and A+ to change text size. In Auto mode use โ and + next to the WPM label to change scroll speed. Both settings persist.
6
Tone filters
The filter bar shows tone options โ Off, Phone, Glow, Dewy, Golden, Airy, Rose, Glam, Cool. Phone mimics the warm saturated look of a native camera app. Filters are baked into the recording. On mobile the bar runs vertically on the right edge of the camera.
7
Record
Tap the red circle. A 3-2-1 countdown plays, then recording begins. In Auto mode the teleprompter starts scrolling. In Manual mode tap Next or your remote button to advance. You'll see a warning at 55 seconds. Tap again to stop.
8
Review and save
The preview sheet slides up after recording. Save to Camera Roll downloads the file. Take to Trim sends it to the Trim page. Discard deletes it so you can re-record.
๐ต
Map your remote buttons
Tap ๐ต Remote in the top bar to open the remote mapper. Four actions can be mapped: Next Line, Back, Start Recording, and Stop Recording. Tap Set next to any action then press a button on your remote โ MakerCue captures it instantly. Map Start and Stop to the same button if your remote only has one.
๐ต
Built-in shortcuts (no setup needed)
Even without mapping, volume keys and arrow keys work in Manual mode โ Volume Up/Down and Arrow Right/Down advance the script, Arrow Left/Up goes back. Spacebar pauses in Auto mode.
๐ก Pro tips
- Write bullet points or one thought per line โ each line becomes its own teleprompter card in Manual mode
- In Manual mode the โน Back button in the controls bar steps back one line if you need to re-read something
- Pinch to zoom on mobile while the camera is live
- Tap โบ Restart to reset the script to the top without stopping recording
- Videos save to this device only โ use AirDrop or Google Drive to transfer
- The first time you record you'll see a one-time notice about local storage โ tap "Got it" to dismiss

Desktop Studio Setup
Webcam ยท Lighting ยท Platform Modes ยท Full Workflow
MakerCue is designed to work beautifully as a complete desktop studio. Write your script on a big screen, film with a 4K webcam, trim and post โ all in one browser tab without ever picking up your phone. Here's how to set it up right.
๐ท
Webcam โ Elgato Facecam Pro (recommended)
A 4K/60fps webcam with a Sony STARVIS sensor and 90ยฐ field of view. Plugs in via USB-C and works in any browser with no drivers or background software needed. The 4K resolution means the vertical crop for TikTok is still sharp. Manual exposure and white balance controls let you lock in a consistent look session to session. Any USB webcam will work with MakerCue โ this is just our top pick for the quality-to-simplicity ratio.
๐ก
Lighting โ a ring light or key light
Good lighting makes more difference than any camera. A ring light ($30โ$60) positioned at eye level in front of you will transform your image quality. If you film near a window, natural light from the side works great. Avoid sitting with a window behind you โ it creates a dark silhouette. The Facecam Pro handles mixed lighting reasonably well but consistent front lighting is always better.
๐
Audio โ external mic (optional but worth it)
The Facecam Pro has no built-in microphone. Your laptop's built-in mic works fine to start. When you're ready to level up, a USB desk mic like the Blue Yeti or Elgato Wave series will make a noticeable difference. Good audio matters as much as good video for creator content.
Platform Modes on Desktop
๐ฑ
Vertical 9:16 โ TikTok, Reels, Shorts
Dark bars appear on the left and right of the camera feed showing what's outside the vertical crop. Position yourself in the centre of the safe zone. The 4K webcam resolution means the cropped portrait frame is still sharp at full TikTok quality.
โฌ
Square 1:1 โ Instagram Feed
Bars appear at the top and bottom. Frame your face and upper body in the square centre zone.
๐ฅ
Landscape 16:9 โ YouTube, Facebook
No crop at all โ the full webcam frame is used. This is the full 4K/60fps output at its best. Great for longer YouTube content where you want the wider, more professional frame. The teleprompter overlays the bottom so you can read your script and look straight at camera at the same time.
The Complete Desktop Workflow
1
Write your script on desktop
Use the full keyboard and screen. Check today's trends panel for ideas. When you're ready tap Film This โ โ it carries your script straight to the Film page.
2
Set up your webcam and lighting
Position the webcam at eye level โ top of your monitor is ideal. Angle your ring light so it's facing you directly. On the Film page select your platform, choose a filter, and do a quick test recording to dial in your framing.
3
Film with the teleprompter
The teleprompter overlays the bottom of the camera feed. Use Auto mode for hands-free scrolling at your WPM pace, or Manual mode to advance one line at a time with the Next button or a Bluetooth remote. Adjust speed with โ and +, text size with Aโ and A+. Drag the pill handle to resize the teleprompter panel. You're reading the script and looking straight at camera โ no need to memorise anything.
4
Trim on desktop
After recording, tap Take to Trim. The Trim page has a full editor โ drag handles to cut the start and end, use Cut mode to remove a mistake from the middle, or splice multiple takes into one video. When it's right tap Save Clip.
5
Post from desktop
Tap Go to Post โ. Build your caption, tap your hashtag groups, and tap Launch to Post โ to open your platform of choice. Your saved video is already in your Downloads folder โ just upload it, paste your caption, and post.
๐ก Desktop pro tips
- Set your layout to ๐ป Desktop on the Tools home screen โ this optimises the Film page layout for a webcam
- Lock your webcam's exposure and white balance in its companion app before filming for consistent results take to take
- Film Landscape 9:16 at 4K and you can crop to any platform format in Trim without losing sharpness
- The Elgato Camera Hub app lets you save lighting presets โ one click to switch between your TikTok and YouTube setups
- On a Mac with an iPhone, Apple Continuity Camera works automatically โ your iPhone becomes the webcam with zero setup
